Transgender Guide to Sex and Relationships

Gender Minorities Aotearoa, as part of the RVPN, developed the online sexual violence prevention course for transgender adults (including intersex trans adults).

The transgender guide to sex and relationships is a free online course designed to provide interesting, fun, insightful, and practical information for transgender adults.

It is a high quality, evidence based, and engaging course from a strengths based perspective, and assists transgender adults in exploring ideas about their body and sense of self, likes and dislikes, needs and limits, communication, healthier relationships, and safer sex.

It involves needs-based learning outcomes proven to reduce instances of sexual violence, and reduce its impact on survivors. Needs were identified based on institutional knowledge gained through 2,000+ one-to-one peer support engagements each year, and through analysis of existing research both on transgender populations, and on sexual violence prevention.

Lesson content was produced through a process that engaged external subject matter experts, including RVPN and its member organisations. It contains collaborative lessons developed with Burnett Foundation Aotearoa, Dr Jen Hayward, NZPC Aotearoa New Zealand Sex Workers’ Collective, Intersex Aotearoa, and Adult Toy Megastore.

The course has 2.5 hours of video content and 10-12 hours of content overall.
